Caramel Apple Pie

Ingredients:apple pie
• 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter
• 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• 1/4 cup water
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 6 Granny Smith apples – peeled, cored and sliced

• Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
• Melt the butter in a saucepan.
• Stir in flour to form a paste.
• Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil.
• Reduce temperature and let simmer.
• Place the bottom crust in your pan.
• Fill with apples, mounded slightly.
• Cover with a lattice work crust.
• Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust.
• Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
• Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
• Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
• Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.

Skillet Pork Chops with Apples and Onions

Ingredients:Skillet Pork Chops with Apples and Onions
• 4 boneless pork loin chops
• 1 teaspoon dried oregano, divided
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon pepper
• 2 TB. spoons butter
• 2 apples, cut into 1/2-in. slices
• 1 cup sweet onions, thinly sliced
• 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
• 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

• Sprinkle pork chops with 1/2 teaspoon oregano, salt, and pepper.
• Place a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
• Melt butter in the skillet.
• Add pork chops.
• Brown 3 minutes per side.
• Remove the pork chops from pan.
• Add apples, onion, and remaining oregano to the pan.
• Cook and stir 6-8 minutes.
• Reduce heat to medium.
• Stir in applesauce and cider vinegar.
• Return pork chops to pan.
• Cook , covered, 4-6 minutes or until pork is tender.
• Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Easy Apple Tart

Ingredients:Easy Apple Tart
• 1  sheet puffed pastry, cut in 9 pieces
• nonstick cooking spray
• 3 whole apples, cored, halved and sliced, but not peeled
• 1/4 cup powdered sugar

• Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
• Place the puffed pastry rectangles onto a baking pan that’s been sprayed with nonstick spray
• Arrange the apple slices on the pastry rectangles in a straight line, overlapping as you go.
• Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
• Bake until the pastry is puffed and golden brown, about 20 minutes.
• Remove from the pan immediately and place on a serving platter.

Apple Chips

Ingredients:apple chips12
• 2 Golden Delicious apples, cored and thinly sliced
• 1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar (optional)
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

• Preheat oven to 225 degrees F (110 degrees C).
• Arrange apples slices on a metal baking sheet in a single layer.
• Mix sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl; sprinkle over apple slices. (Optional).
• Bake in the preheated oven until apples are dried and edges curl up, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
• Transfer apple chips, using a metal spatula, to a wire rack until cooled and crispy.

Note: Keep the oven slightly open while making apple chips.

Hot Apple Cider

Ingredients:apple cider
• 6 cups apple cider or freshly squeezed apple juice
• 1/4 cup maple syrup
• 2 cinnamon sticks
• 6 whole cloves
• 3 star anise
• 1 orange, peels and juice
• 1 lemon, peels cut into strips

• Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and simmer over low heat for 5 to 10 minutes.
•  Turn the heat off put.
• Cover and let stand for an hour.
• Reheat the cider to the desired temperature.
• Pour into mugs and serve.

Apple Crisp

Ingredients:Apple Crisp
• 5 lb apples
• 4 TB spoons orange juice
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
For the topping:
• 1 1/2 cups flour
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
• 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
• 1 cup oatmeal
• 1/2 lb cold unsalted butter, diced

• Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
• Butter a 9 by 14 by 2-inch oval baking dish.
• Peel, core, and slice the apples.
• Combine the apples with the orange juice, sugar, and spices.
• Pour into the dish.
• To make the topping, combine the flour, sugars, salt, oatmeal, and cold butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.
• Mix on low speed until the mixture is crumbly and the butter is the size of peas.
• Scatter evenly over the apples.
• Place the crisp on a sheet pan and bake for 1 hour until the top is brown and the apples are bubbly.
• Serve warm.

Apple Pie

Dough for a double crust 9-inch pie
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• dash of salt
• 3 1/2 cups peeled, thinly sliced cooking apples
• 1 (16-ounce) jar applesauce
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• 2 tablespoons butter, chopped into small pieces

• Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
• Line a 9-inch pie pan with half of dough.
• Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
• Stir in apples, applesauce, and lemon juice. Spoon apple mixture into pie pan and dot with butter.
• Cut remaining crust into strips; arrange in a lattice design over top of pie.
• Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 degrees F and continue to bake for about 45 minutes, or until crust and topping are golden brown.

Apple Butter

Ingredients:Apple butter
4 lb apples
• 1 cup apple cider vinegar
• 2 cups water
• 4 cups sugar
• Salt
• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1/2 teaspoon allspice
• Grated rind and juice of 1 lemon

• Cut the apples into quarters, without peeling or coring them, cut out damaged parts.
• Put them into large pot, add the vinegar and water, cover, bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer, cook until apples are soft, about 20 minutes.
• Remove from heat.
•  Ladle apple mixture into a  foodmill and using a pestle force pulp from the foodmill  into a large bowl below.
• Add sugar.
• Stir to dissolve sugar.
• Add a dash of salt, and the cinnamon, ground cloves, allspice, lemon rind and juice. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
• Cook uncovered in a large, wide, thick-bottomed pot on medium low heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Scrape the bottom of the pot while you stir to make sure a crust is not forming at the bottom. Cook until thick and smooth (about 1 to 2 hours).
• Keep refrigerated.


• 5  lbs apples
• Juice of one lemon (3 Tbsp)
• 2  cinnamon sticks
• 1/4 cup of light brown sugar
•1/4 cup of white sugar
• 1 cup of water
• 1/2 teaspoon of salt

• Peel, core and quarter apples.
• Put all ingredients into a large pot.
• Cover.
• Bring to boil.
• Lower heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
• Remove from heat.
• Remove cinnamon sticks.
• Mash with potato masher.

Ready to serve, either hot or refrigerated.

Freezes easily, lasts up to one year in a cold freezer.

Apple Pancakes

Ingredients:apple pancakes
• 1 apple, finely shredded
• 1 egg
• 1/2 cup milk
• 1/2 cup kefir (buttermilk)
• 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
• 2 TB spoons sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup self-rising flour

• Preheat griddle to 425- 450°F.
• Mix together egg, kefir, milk, vanilla, sugar, salt and self-rising flour.
• Add apple.
• Let it stand for 5 minutes.
• Spoon batter onto hot griddle (1/4 cup for each pancake).
• Cook for  1 1/2 minutes; turn pancake over and continue to cook for another 1 to 1 1/2 minutes.
• Serve with your choice of jams or syrups.
